The Board of Directors of the Alabama Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy is pleased to announce that, after a competitive search process, Christina Clark Okarmus has been selected as the next Executive Director. Christina has been the Policy and Outreach Manager for the Alabama Campaign for the past three years, and has been with the Campaign for seven years total. Christina has worked with the Gift of Life Foundation as interim director of their sexual health education program and VOICES for Alabama’s Children as outreach coordinator. She has also interned and volunteered with various government agencies, political candidates, and coalitions. As Executive Director, Christina will continue her work on policy change and training around sexual health education for Alabama’s youth, while ushering in a time of transition and growth for the Alabama Campaign. She brings her passion for adolescent sexual health, as well as a wealth of knowledge in the field, to the Executive Director position.

“I believe all young people have the right to sexual health education and services that are medically-accurate and free of bias and shame. When given the tools to succeed, young people can make healthy decisions for themselves. As adults, it’s our job to support them and prepare them for the rest of their lives. I’m ready to bring that message across Alabama and am honored to be entrusted with the leadership of the Alabama Campaign.”

Christina is a member of ADPH Family Planning Advisory Committee, Alabama Arise, Church of the Ascension, Doula Trainings International, League of Women Voters, and Pi Gamma Mu. She has her Master of Public Policy from the University of Northern Iowa and her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Christina will begin her tenure as Executive Director on April 1. She can be reached at [email protected] and 334-265-8004.
