After more than 25 years of advancing sex education in Alabama, the Alabama Campaign for Adolescent Sexual Health is closing its doors. The work of sex education for Alabama’s youth remains necessary, especially as the Alabama Legislature just passed abstinence-only-until-marriage legislation. For grassroots organizations like ACASH, the current political and funding landscape has made continuing our work nearly impossible. And while our staff care deeply about this work, it cannot be done without cash-flow.
This decision was made with the utmost care for our communities. Our youth programming is continuing with Teen Health Mississippi and Montgomery Pride United. Our advocacy work continues with URGE Alabama and Yellowhammer Fund.
The legacy of ACASH will continue in the caring adults, youth leaders, and communities across Alabama that continue to provide comprehensive sex education.
