Evidence-Based Program Highlight: SHARP

Christina Clark | July 20, 2016

Last month we highlighted evidence-based program Making Proud Choices as an option to use with youth in various settings. This month, we are highlighting an evidence-based program called SHARP (Sexual Health and Adolescent Risk Prevention). SHARP is intended for youth in juvenile detention settings, and teaches sexual risk avoidance in one 3-4 hour session. SHARP is unique in that it addresses sexual risk reduction and substance use. Currently the only substance addressed is alcohol, but there is discussion of an updated version that incorporates marijuana and prescription drug use. If you’d like to learn more about SHARP you can visit youth.gov. You can also discuss the program with us.
